The English Benedictine Congregation is a family of communities that include both monks and nuns. We are canonically united by our General Chapter that meets every fours years but on a practical and more human level we support one another in our shared Benedictine life.  Monks and nuns who hold the same responsibility within their community meet periodically to share ideas and give one another mutual support.

Since moving to North Yorkshire we are only four miles from our brothers at Ampleforth Abbey and value their support and friendship, not least in celebrating Mass for us daily.

At the General Chapter of 2022 we received three new nuns communities into our Congregation;
Kylemore Abbey Ireland
Jamberoo Abbey Australia
Mariavall Sweden
