For our Jubilee Year we wanted the community’s annual retreat to be particularly inspiring and were delighted when Fr Michael Casey OCSO accepted Mother Abbess’ invitation to lead the eight days of spiritual renewal 22-30 July.
Fr Michael is a monk of the Cistercian abbey of Tarrawarra in Victoria, Australia, and a renowned author and speaker on monastic life.
The main theme of the retreat was ‘Discipleship’. By sharing his own monastic experience and wisdom and skilful use of Scripture, the writings of the Fathers of the Church, monastic authors ancient and contemporary, as well as some stunning visual resources, Fr Michael helped us to re-commit to our vows with renewed vigour and a will to share our Christian faith with others: vocation is always missionary.
